About the event

Our session comprises of the follow sections:

History of Intimacy Coordination: Introduction to the history of intimacy coordination and the role of the first people to classify and develop this area of the industry. This session focuses on researched based intimacy for screen, the impact and aftermath of #metoo and the establishing of the role of Intimacy Coordinators in the arts industry.

Role of the Intimacy Coordinator - a thorough presentation on the three key elements of the Intimacy Coordinator Role. These role requirements are similar to Intimacy Direction but the application are very different. We will explore each of these in-depth as well as the practicalities of the role.

Power Dynamics at work - in every rehearsal and on set there are various and multiple Power Dynamics on display. Throughout the history of our industry, abuse of these Power Dynamics led to many instances and cycles of physical , psychological and emotional harm. This section unpacks the categories of Power and how to recognise them in the workplace. We cover who holds the Power Dynamic and the impact when these are used both positively and negatively.

Introduction to the Pillars of Intimacy: - a methodology designed and conceptualized by Tonia Sina and adapted by Intimacy for Stage and Screen for the work in the UK. These pillars focus on consent, context, communication, choreography and closure and duty of care systems. These pillars are used throughout our Intimacy Coordinator training.

Way forward: During this session we will discuss to how protect the work of intimacy coordination as well as practical ways to raise the standard of the industry regarding intimacy for the screen.
